Your job as a New Hampshire Home Care Attendant for Granite State Independent Living (GSIL) is vitally important to the lives of seniors and people with disabilities.   As part of your employment with us, you must participate in our in person orientation/training program and training updates.

The GSIL Training Classes provide insight and information about our organization, the independent living philosophy, personal care services and your role as a care attendant. We educate you on types of disabilities and adaptive equipment. You will learn about communication skills and self-care tips. The orientation/training program discusses fraud and how to avoid it, blood borne pathogens and how to protect yourself and other information that might be necessary and helpful knowledge in your new position.

If you have been hired to work as a care attendant in the Home Care Program:

Training for care attendants employed in the Home Care Program will be determined by the Home Care management team.  The Home Care management team will schedule all new hires working for the Home Care Program.  The GSIL Home Care Program requires all newly hired care attendants to participate in an 8 hour Home Care Training Program before they can begin working for the Home Care Program.  If you have been hired to work for the Home Care Program, please contact your Home Care scheduler to enroll in the Home Care Training Class.

If you have been hired to work as a care attendant in the Consumer Directed Program:

GSIL now mandates that all newly hired care attendants employed in our Consumer Directed Program participate in a 3 hour In Person Attendant Care Education (ACE) Training Class.  Classes for care attendants employed in the Consumer Directed Program are listed below.  Any ACE Training must be completed within 30 days from your hire date.  Failure to do so could result in suspension or termination of your employment with GSIL. We may have to change the date, time and location of any class and you will be notified in a reasonable timeframe should any changes occur.  You must pre-register for the class at least 3 days prior to the class you will be attending.  You will get paid (your starting wage) 3 hours for attending the In Person ACE Training class.
