Advocacy
Granite State Independent Living works to identify, bring attention to and improve issues affecting people with disabilities. The goal of our advocacy efforts is to help guarantee full and equal participation in society for people with disabilities and those who are aging.

Our Advocacy program does this by:
- Empowering individuals with disabilities to develop self advocacy skills to overcome barriers;
- Providing individuals with information and tools they need to access community resources, maintain civil rights, and live independently;
- Sharing information and resources on key issues, legislation, and the legislative process to encourage individual participation in the legislative process;
- Advocating for necessary systems changes on the local, state, and national level through our Advocacy Network of consumers, family members, service providers, and others;
- Working with local, state and federal governments on a continual basis to facilitate change;
- Participating in discussions and legislation on timely issues that affect people with disabilities and older adults;
- Providing leading-edge training on disability awareness to New Hampshire's businesses; and
- Presenting independent living concepts to civic organizations and schools.
